COURSE

The Greenock Whinhill Golf Course is a scenic moorland course with most holes affording superb views over the Argyll Hills and Ben Lomond.

The course measures 5, 504 yards over 18 holes and has a par of 68 (CSS 67) from the Gent Medal Tees.

Although apparently short in yardage, the course plays its full distance and accuracy from the tee is at a premium.

The Greenock Whinhill Golf Course is played around the Beith Dam with the Dam coming into play on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes and connecting ‘burns’ coming into contention in several holes resulting in placement being key in mastering the course.

The four longest holes on the course – 5th, 10th, 14th and 18th all measure over 400 yards and require two solid and precise strikes to leave an opportunity for a birdie. The 10th hole is arguably one of the toughest driving holes in the Renfrewshire area and the 18th hole, perhaps the prettiest hole on the course, offers a tough but fitting end to a days golf.

No two holes are the same at the Greenock Whinhill Golf Course with the four par 3s, in particular, presenting four very tough, but different challenges from the tee.
